Fanboy

I finally bought a Macbook Pro after much debate with myself. On the lines of 'It's too expensive, you can buy two (shitty) W7 books for the price. But it's awesome...And you can work on a real Unix based system, that's much more robust and less prone to malware than the W. But then, why don't I buy a Linux book instead. Yeah, but the graphics in Linux are semi-good and well, it's got that open source feel to it...And yeah, Mac's too damn expensive. But dammit, it is awesome....' for days on end.
After a lifetime of criticizing Apple fanboys I've turned into one myself today. Not solely due to the quality of the product, but because using the damn thing is a constant reminder of what a difference passion and vision can make in our lives.

I am still on the end that you just drifted away from..so I might add to this a question: "but because using the damn thing is a constant reminder of what a difference passion and vision can make in our lives"...aren't there things less materialistic than a Mac to remind you the same..? And if that is what the case was...Why Now? Why not before? What changed? I believe the answer to what changed your thoughts about Mac is in fact the real reason why you are a fanboy now :) and not a desire to have that reminder..

JR, I think I wasn't clear on what appeals to me in the Mac. Nor was I clear that I was never anti-Mac just because a lot of Fanatic Fanboys existed. Personally, it isn't just the swanky look and feel to it or the coolness factor. The nifty little features that make user experience enjoyable, the care that has been put into the hardware and software design (power consumption, unibody aluminum, UI, graphics) all tell me that simply making a buck out of the product wasn't the aim. I was going to add this, but deliberately left it out - that one could argue from first principles and say that it's done just for profit, but I don't buy that argument, because there's so much out there that's done for the money and is yet way inferior.
As to passion and less materialistic things, sure, who would disagree?
I didn't buy the Mac to be inspired. The post is just a reflection of what I feel _after_ using it.

It indeed is a remarkable piece of work. Congratulations on the purchase :)

Thanks. BTW, consider my leaving the anti-Mac club as payback for you leaving the Agnostics club a long time ago. We're even :)
